On Saturday I decided to walk from the Rotary Club Quilt Show back to the old town of Paducah. Just thirty blocks later I got there, but what an adventure on the way.
Jefferson Street is probably one of the prettiest in Paducah, with mostly old Victoria era homes.
During the big flood of 1937 most of the homes suffered some water damage, though as many were brick or stone the damage was superficial except on the interior.
When I came to this charming letterbox I stopped to take a photo the gentleman in the next door yard was trimming his edges. I asked was it okay to take a photo as it included his home. "Sure, would you like to come on inside and see what it looks like - all filled with antiques and such. My wife sure wouldn't mind, we've only lived here two weeks."
And that's how I met Bobby and Alma. This hospitable pair live in Tennessee, but decided to come back to their hometown for a year before all of their old school friends died off! They are renting this 2-storied Southern lady, full furnished. It's beautiful! So are Bobby and Alma.
The Postie delivers right to the doorstep.
After saying my goodbyes to Bobby and Alam I wandered on through the lovely old buildings.
This is the episcopalian church. Yep, it has a Sat of David on the roof. The church suffered from s fire and the Jewish citizens help to rebuild. Nice!
This is a big campus.
